Selling a car through Spinny's platform is a straightforward process that begins on the sell home page. Here, users are prompted to provide some basic information about their car. Once these details are filled in, an estimated price range for the car is displayed. If the user agrees with this initial assessment, they have two options to proceed.
The first option is to schedule a home evaluation. In this scenario, a Spinny inspector visits the user's location at a convenient time to conduct a thorough inspection of the car. This process ensures that the car's condition is accurately assessed before a final price is determined.
The second option is the online evaluation form. This form is a digital alternative to the traditional inspection. Users are guided through a series of questions about their car's condition, features, and history. Upon completing the form, users receive an exact price for their car.
In this project we dive deep into the thought behind this redesign exercise and its impact.
After the successful launch of the online inspection project where we saw upto 85% completion rate we wanted to pick up the sell form flow (which precedes the online inspection form) and make it more intuitive for the user. The completion rate for this process, which precedes the online inspection form, had plateaued at 63%.
Our exploration began with a key hypothesis: the perceived complexity of the form, particularly after selecting the car brand, might be acting as a deterrent for users. To delve deeper into this assumption, we embarked on an intensive analysis of user behavior and feedback. We meticulously dissected the form, scrutinizing its elements, sequence, and overall design to pinpoint areas that could be causing friction.
Old design: Home Page
Old design: Second Question.
When examining the sell home page, on the left-hand side, it becomes evident that the presence of a hero line and the unique selling propositions (USPs) is somewhat overshadowed by the background image. Recognizing this, our objective was to enhance the visual clarity. This involved streamlining the layout to accentuate the prominence of the sell form and ensure a distinctly clear call to action.
Directing your attention to the form displayed on the right, you'll likely observe an array of elements vying for the user's attention. There is a navigation on the left, there is information on the right, there is also a search. At first glance, it might appear overwhelming, potentially triggering a sense of hesitation or reluctance due to the perceived complexity of the task at hand. Admittedly, the initial impression might lead one to believe that completing this form would entail a substantial amount of effort.
Yet, in truth, this form is designed to capture the fundamental aspects of your vehicle – the overarching details that define its identity: the make, model, variant, and so forth.
